Eligibility Conditions

Qualification/Age

4 Serving Army Soldiers 17-25 Years No age relaxation
Academic Prerequisites
Marks – FA/ FSc/ Equivalent
Minimum 55 % marks in FA/FSc and equivalent.
Candidates who secure 60% mks or above in BA/ BSc/ BA/ BSc-(Hons) and BBA/ BPA, with 50% mks in FA/ FSc are eligible for Pakistan Military Academy (PMA) Long Course.
Serving Army Soldiers. 50% marks in FA/ FSc and equivalent.
Hope Certificate. Candidates who have been promoted in FScPart-1 and advance Subsidiary examination 2022 can also apply on “Hope Certificate of 55% Marks duly issued by Head of the Institution. FSc, A Level and equivalent final result card/ marks sheet must be submitted within one week of announcement of board results, otherwise candidates will not be considered in final merit. Candidates who apply on Hope Cert and obtain less than 55% marks in FSc and grade A-C in Advance Level will be declared ineligible.
Verification of Marks Sheet/ Certificate. Candidates not issued with certificates or in possession of duplicate/revised mark sheets/certificates of Matric/ Intermediate/ BA/ BSc must get a Verification Certificate signed by Secretary/ Controller Examination of concerned Board/University.
‘A’ level candidates applying in Pakistan with aggregate 55% marks are eligible without seeking equivalence certificate as calculated by IBCC. However, all the candidates who have passed ‘A’ level and equivalent examination from abroad or have passed from Pakistan with the result less than three Cs are required to submit equivalence certificate issued by Inter Board of Chairman Committee (IBCC).

In-Eligibility Conditions

Twice rejected by Inter Service Selection Board (ISSB).
Trice failure in initial test (Int/ Academic) will be ineligible for future PMA L/C.
Twice screened out by Inter Service Selection Board (ISSB).
Tested within four months (120 days) gap of previous appearance in Inter Service Selection Board (ISSB) except waiver granted by the competent authority.
Dismissed/removed/debarred from Government Service including Armed Forces.
Convicted in a Court of Law for any heinous offence (to be ascertained by the competent military authority).
Permanently declared UNFIT by Appeal Medical Board (PUF by AMB). Declared unfit by any Armed Forces Hospital except those cleared by Appeal Medical Board. However, Pakistan Air Force candidates who become medically unfit for flying but fit for ground branches can undergo routine Medical Examination as normal candidates if they are desirous to join other arms.
Declared medically unfit due to Hepatitis B & C (AMB cannot be requested).
Withdrawn from any bonded Armed Forces college/ institution on disciplinary grounds.
Withdrawn/ discharged/ resigned or purchase of commission from any Armed Forces officers Academy/ Training Institution on any ground.
Tempering of academic certificates/ forgery/ concealment to get undue advantage will render to applicant permanently ineligible for all types of commission in Armed Forces.
Candidates declared with Positive Drug Test from CMHs/ Military Hospitals/ AFIP will be considered as Permanant Unfit for joining PMA/ Training Institutions.
Note:ISSB Selection system assesses natural officer potential. Coaching on ISSB tests adversely affects the chnaces of selection and results in many contradictions in personality traits. In case it is found that any candidate trained in any private coaching centre will be considered as ineligible to apply for all types of commissions.

Registration and Preliminary Selection Procedure

Candidates can register either through Internet or by visiting Army Selection and Recruitment Centres (AS&RCs). Following procedure will be adopted:-
  Registration through Internet. A candidate can register on website www.joinpakarmy.gov.pk. Date and time of test shall be intimated on internet for which the individual should have an e-mail account. Candidates will report on exact date and time given for preliminary test on computerized roll no slip. Date once given will not be changed. Candidates MUST attain working knowledge of computer as registration and tests will be conducted on computers.
  Registration at Army Selection and Recruitment Centres. Candidates may report at nearest Army Selection and Recruitment Centres for registration/ allotment of roll number along with necessary documents (mentioned in advertisement) and the prospectus fee for completion of registration formalities. Candidates will bring these on the day of test as well.
  Schedule of Preliminary Selection
  Registration. 10 Apr 2023 – 14 May 2023 (Include Sat and Sun)
  Preliminary Tests. 17 May 2023 – 14 Jul 2023 (Except Sat, Sun and closed Holidays)
  Note
  The TCC Candidates who apply for PMA Long Course and have under gone ISSB irrespective of outcome will also be considered as Repeater Candidates.
  Repeater candidates must report at concerned Army Selection and Recruitment Centres (AS&RCs) from 17 – 27 May 2023 for preliminary test.
Preliminary Selection.Module based selection for Inter Services Selection Board (ISSB) will be carried out, for which a module is being develop at Personnel Administration Directorate. Following will be including in the initial test with weightages assigned in the module:-
  Written/ Intelligence
  Medical Examination
  Physical Test
  Interview by preliminary selection board headed by Selection and recruitment Officer (S&RO)
  Written/Intelligence Tests.Written/Intelligence tests will be based on multiple choice questions from English, Maths, Pak Studies, Islamiat and General Knowledge. The candidates declared successful in written/intelligence tests will undergo physical/ medical tests and interviews at Army Selection and Recruitment Centres (AS&RCs).
  Physical Tests.Following criteria has been set for all candidates:-
    ► 1.6 Km Run – 8 minutes (3 Marks)
    ► Pull Ups – 3 repetitions in 2 minutes (2 Marks)
    ► Push Ups – 15 repetitions in 2 minutes (2 Marks)
    ► Crunches – 20 repetitions in 2 minutes (2 Marks)
    ► Ditch Crossing – 7.4 feet (1 Mark)
Passing all events as per above table are mandatory for each candidate. A candidate failing in any 1 x event will be considered as Physical Test (PT) failure and will not be given Inter Services Selection Board (ISSB) form.
Interview. Candidates clearing written, Medical & Physical Test will be finally interviewed by S&ROs (instead of Brig by the formation) and Psychologist. Before interview every candidate will be required to write an essay of 10 lines in English and Urdu. Plain paper to be issued to candidates before interview for Eng and Urdu essay. Topic of the Day will be reflected on the board in exam hall /room. S&RO will write pointers of every candidate appearing in interview. Each candidate will be given marks out of 20. A candidate securing less than 12 marks will be considered failure and will not be given Inter Services Selection Board (ISSB) form. Following guidelines are given for conduct of interview:-
  Expression and confidence in English and Urdu.
  Adequate Knowledge about current affairs.
  Adequate knowledge about Geo and Pak Studies.
  Overall outlook.
  Extra curricular activities include sports and hobbies.
  Any other aspect as deemed appropriate by the Panel.
  Recording of interview of every candidate through CCTV be ensured by all AS&RCs and same be shared with PA Dte on CDs on weekly basis.

Further Selection Procedure

Army Selection and Recruitment Centres (AS&RCs) will fill in all required entries (Physical Test & Interview marks) in the module. Further nomination of candidates for Inter Services Selection Board (ISSB) will be done by Personal Administration Directorate through merit. Detailed medical examination of Inter Services Selection Board (ISSB) recommended candidates will be carried out at nearby Combined Military Hospitals. The final selection will be made at General Headquarters on the basis of candidate’s performance.

Documents Required at Army Selection and Recruitment Centres

Original certificate/ detailed Marks Sheet of Matric/FA/FSc/Equivalent.

Computerized National Identity Card for 18 years and above or computerized Form “B” alongwith Guardian’s computerized National Identity Card (Father or Mother) for less than 18 years of age.

One set of attested photocopies of above mentioned documents.

3 x Passport size coloured photos duly attested (front and back) by Principal/ Class-1 Gazetted Officer.

Original as well as one photocopy of “NOT RECOMMENDED” letter by Inter Services Selection Board (ISSB) are also required for “Repeater Candidates”

Note: Old National Identity Card will not be accepted.

Pakistan Nationals Residing Abroad

Eligible candidates residing abroad are exempted from Preliminary Selection. However, Defence Attaches will ascertain their overall suitability, physical deformity and stammering aspects. The candidates are advised to approach Pakistani Embassies (Military/Defence Attaches) in the country where residing for issuance of Application Forms. They will submit their Application Forms alongwith connected documents through Pakistani Embassies by 15 Jul 2022. A postal order of Rs. 100/- and a Bank Draft of Rs. 500/- in the name of Director General Personnel Administration, Personnel Administration Directorate, General Headquarters (GHQ) Rawalpindi will be attached with the Application Form. Postal address in Pakistan should also be indicated in the Application Forms so that call up notice for Inter Service Selection Board (ISSB) Tests/ Interviews and further correspondence to eligible candidates can be made on the given Pakistani address. No traveling allowance will be admissible for travelling to and from Pakistan.
NOTE: If selected candidates for current entry are more than the required induction, the left over candidates would be considered for next Pakistan Military Academy (PMA) Long Course entry subject to fulfillment of eligibility conditions/ merit.
